On the cusp

I guess we all know people around us who have just drifted into success, or had success come overnight, or it’s just landed in their lap.

Not me. I strove hard for my qualifications and I worked passionately at Virgin for 17 years, and although it might seem that success came to me, there was blood sweat and tears and failure within every inch of progress.

With Richard Branson’s mantra ‘screw it let’s do it’ fuelling my enthusiasm I was probably naïve to start an idea which was counter-culture as well as counter-industry. i.e. to break into the restaurant market which has high failure rates, without the single biggest profit driver (alcohol) in the most white hot property market in the world (London).

And now, we are about to open a flagship in Notting Hill and my favourite Richard Branson saying, the one that I’ve found to be most true, is that ‘with the right bunch of people you can achieve anything’. I’ve found Andrea my top chick, top chef and partner, JD the General Manager whose loyalty and energy knows no bounds, and investors, team members and customers who really believe in what we’re doing.

So here we are on the cusp of the launch – will the great British public embrace the chance to ‘spoil yourself without spoiling yourself’? Watch this space!
