People often feel apprehensive when they arrive at Redemption for the first time. I’m not sure whether they expect a smug hippy vibe or that of an AA meeting, but I’ll happily say in reality it’s neither!
It’s customary to get drinks in straight away when arriving at a venue. And I’ve noticed that without this social lubricant the first 15 minutes can be slightly awkward for some!
This quickly subsides as everyone gets more relaxed. It’s almost as if we don’t need alcohol for dutch courage after all – who knew!
As the evening goes on the atmosphere stays at a constant high, without our trusty friend booze making us tired and causing arguments. There’s also not that nasty surprise when the bill comes. You know, when you’ve ordered several more large glasses of Shiraz than you thought? Yeah, that one.
The best – and possibly the most surprising – aspect of a night at Redemption is the fact that people are having the exact same conversations they would do over a bottle of wine. But without the pounding head the next day.
So far it’s been a really brilliant social experiment and I’m excited to see what happens next.
Feeling curious? Why not come in and find out for yourself.
